Perhaps it was because of my high expectation of a Bruce Lee film, I was not as impressed when I watched The Return of the Dragon. I can see Lee’s determination to prove the excellence of Chinese martial arts, as Bordwell mentioned in Planet Hong Kong (Bordwell, 2011), but I think he blurred the line between being a kung-fu master and a filmmaker.
